Senior Software Engineer (Backend) - Java/Kotlin

Join Disco as a Senior Software Engineer (Backend) and play a pivotal role in developing sophisticated software solutions. **What You'll Do:**

• **Advanced Software Development:** Design, build, and implement complex software solutions, focusing on functionality, scalability, testability, and reliability.
• **System Design & Grooming:** Contribute to system design and participate in grooming sessions.
• **Code Quality & Optimization:** Uphold and improve code quality through rigorous reviews, optimization techniques, and best practices.
• **Innovative Problem Solving:** Develop creative solutions for challenging technical problems.
• **Collaboration & Communication:** Work effectively with engineering teams, product managers, and stakeholders.
• **Continuous Learning:** Stay updated with emerging technologies and continuously enhance your skills.
• **Technical Documentation:** Create and maintain clear and comprehensive technical documentation.

**Who You Are:**

• 5-7+ years of software development experience, preferably in SaaS.
• 3+ years of professional experience with Service Oriented Architecture, Docker-based services, microservices, and API/Data Model design or implementation.
• Proven experience in significant software projects, working both independently and as part of a team.
• Experience developing and maintaining large-scale, high-availability software systems.
• Familiarity with gRPC and Protocol Buffers for efficient service-to-service communication.
• Understanding of security-focused design and development.
• Experience selecting and extending third-party components (commercial or open source).
• Proficiency in Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) with a strong testing pyramid.
• Experience with Agile development methodologies.
• Experience using feature or release toggles as a code branching strategy.
• Experience with Contract-first designing and negotiation.
• Experience contributing to technical documentation.

**Even Better If You Have:**

• Practical knowledge of microservices design patterns and containerized development (e.g., Docker).
• Strong understanding of system architecture, design patterns, and software development best practices.
• Experience designing and operating software in a Cloud Provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Experience with cloud-based data storage solutions (Relational Databases, NoSQL Stores, data caches).
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Adaptability to new technologies and a passion for innovation.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Proficiency in Java/Kotlin and Python.
• Experience designing and developing APIs and API documentation.
• Familiarity with server management, network configurations, and cloud services.
