JPMorgan Chase is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to join our Consumer and Community Banking Technology team in Hyderabad. In this role, you will drive the stability, reliability, and operational excellence of ATM Product applications. You will lead a team of software engineers and support engineers, setting goals, providing coaching, and managing performance. Your responsibilities include establishing and managing a 24x7 follow-the-sun support model, defining clear escalation paths, and fostering a culture of operational excellence. You'll provide technical direction, balance product delivery with platform health, and own day-to-day operations for ATM services, including incident response and service restoration. You will define and manage Service Level Objectives (SLOs), error budgets, and capacity plans, while ensuring runbooks, playbooks, and CMDBs are up-to-date. Leading major incident bridges, conducting post-incident reviews, and governing change and release processes will be key. You will also ensure comprehensive monitoring, alerting, and tracing, and drive automation for operational tasks. A strong understanding of secure SDLC controls in production, including vulnerability management and secrets management, is essential. You will partner with cybersecurity, risk, and audit teams, and oversee disaster recovery and resilience testing. Collaboration with ATM hardware vendors for patching and firmware deployments is also part of the role.
This position requires formal training or certification in software engineering with 5+ years of applied experience, including 2+ years in a management or production support leadership role. You should have a strong background in operating distributed systems, Java-based backend services, and expertise in REST/gRPC, messaging/streaming (Kafka, MQ), and relational/NoSQL databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, Cassandra). Experience with incident, problem, and change management at scale, observability stacks, CI/CD, containerization (Docker), and secure operations is also required.
