About the Job
Join Airbnb's Regional Payments team and be a key player in driving global growth through localized payment solutions. We're looking for a Backend Software Engineer with 3-6 years of experience to architect and build the platform capabilities that make booking an Airbnb seamless and accessible worldwide.
In this role, you will:
- Take end-to-end ownership of backend services and APIs, primarily using Java, from design to deployment.
- Develop and integrate local payment methods, affordability features (like installment plans), and promotional campaign logic.
- Optimize guest checkout experiences and regional payment funnels to directly impact the company's Gross Booking Value (GBV).
- Collaborate closely with Product, Finance, Data, and other cross-functional teams to define technical strategies and deliver high-impact features.
- Ensure the scalability and reliability of our global payments platform while meeting diverse regional needs.
- Analyze key metrics to identify and implement engineering improvements.
- Participate in on-call rotations and contribute to reducing tech debt and enhancing system reliability.
