Join Vital Op as a Software Engineer focused on developing and operationalizing AI agents within our AI Producer Team. You will be instrumental in building and operating our agentic AI ecosystem, which includes AI agents, a reusable AI framework, shared data connectors, and governance-aligned delivery.
In this role, you will implement well-defined components of agentic workflows and backend services, gaining hands-on experience with production AI systems. You will contribute to RAG pipelines by developing data ingestion and chunking components, implement integrations with internal systems, and build API endpoints to support agent execution. Under guidance, you will also assist in implementing tool-calling logic.
Key responsibilities include writing unit, integration, and regression tests, implementing logging and monitoring hooks, and debugging agent failures. You will also support evaluation runs and contribute to the analysis of results. Furthermore, you will contribute to shared AI utilities, adhere to architectural standards, participate in code reviews, and document technical implementation details.
We are seeking candidates with a four-year degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience) and 2-5 years of backend systems or API development. Experience with LLM-based development, generative AI features, or retrieval-based systems is a plus. Strong programming fundamentals in Python, experience with REST APIs, familiarity with containerization (Docker), and knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and GitOps principles are essential. Exposure to cloud environments and CI/CD concepts is also beneficial.
