About the Job
Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer to play a hands-on role in integrating our analytical instruments into automated workflows. You will focus on the technical implementation, integration, and prototyping of automation capabilities for laboratory, pilot plant, and manufacturing environments. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams globally to accelerate automation adoption and enable scalable instrument connectivity. You will configure connectivity using protocols like OPC UA, MQTT, Modbus, and REST APIs, build automation demos and prototypes, and develop reusable scripts and templates. Key responsibilities include implementing and testing instrument automation integrations, troubleshooting hardware/software issues, and supporting sales and field teams with demo systems. While not responsible for strategic roadmap development, your practical insights will help evolve our automation framework.
