Zendesk is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Pune-based team. You will play a crucial role in enhancing the customer experience for over 170,000 global brands. This hybrid role requires working from the office at least three days a week.
As a Senior Engineer, you will collaborate with a passionate team to design and implement sophisticated solutions for complex technical challenges. Your responsibilities will span the entire development lifecycle, including technical design, pair programming, code reviews, documentation, testing, and continuous integration. You will partner with product management and engineers to deliver simple, elegant solutions.
We expect you to ensure code quality, debug effectively, and champion best practices in testing and development. You will contribute to frequent and fast code releases while maintaining stability and reliability. This role involves actively participating in design discussions, partnering across the SDLC, and sharing responsibility for system maintenance.
We value a fast learner with at least 8 years of hands-on coding experience. Proficiency in backend languages such as Java, Golang, NodeJS, or Scala is essential. Experience with JavaScript and React (2+ years) is also required, along with familiarity with JavaScript build infrastructure/tooling like Webpack and Node.js.
Ideal candidates will have experience leading software solution design and development, expertise in unit testing and TDD, and a desire to work with diverse teams. You should be a self-motivated problem-solver with strong collaboration and communication skills, capable of working effectively in an ambiguous environment. Mentoring junior developers and fostering continuous learning is also a key aspect of this role.
This position is located in Pune, Maharashtra, and requires a hybrid work arrangement, with specific in-office days determined by the hiring manager.
