About the Job
Join Tesco Technology as a Senior Software Development Engineer, focusing on building critical capabilities for the Tesco Developer Platform. This enterprise-grade platform supports internet-scale workloads and is key to our global operations. You will collaborate with product managers and engineers across India and the UK to design and develop reusable, high-performance solutions.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- **Technical Leadership & Design:** Lead the design and implementation of platform and customer-facing features, contributing to overall system architecture. Partner with product managers and developers to ensure robust and scalable platform design.
- **Code & Development:** Develop, build, and maintain high-performance, reliable, and reusable code. Implement new features in production while upholding code quality and best practices.
- **Engineering Practices:** Ensure code quality for platform robustness, usability, and reliability. Implement comprehensive test strategies (functional, regression, integration) for consistent performance and user satisfaction.
- **Infrastructure & Security:** Collaborate with cloud platform and security teams to design the platform across private and public cloud environments. Implement secure coding practices, layered defense, and DevSecOps principles.
- **Technology Evangelism:** Discover, evaluate, and champion new technologies to enhance developer productivity.
**What You'll Need:**
- Expertise in programming languages like Golang and Java, with proven experience in developing scalable, high-performance applications.
- Strong solutioning skills for designing simple, maintainable solutions to complex business challenges.
- Proficiency in writing clean, maintainable code and applying software design, testing, and deployment best practices.
- Experience with Infrastructure-As-Code tools (e.g., Terraform) and CI/CD pipeline development.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes and containerization is a plus, as are fundamental understanding of networking and DNS.
