Join Amazon's Tax Services team and contribute to one of the world's largest transactional distributed systems. You will collaborate with customers and peers across Amazon's diverse businesses to develop innovative features. If you are passionate about building highly scalable and reliable systems or enjoy solving complex business problems with software, this role is for you. Our team is responsible for the tax invoicing platform, providing core services that generate tax invoices for Amazon. We ensure correct tax amounts are applied to customers at the time of order and maintain secure audit records to comply with global tax laws. Key challenges include adapting to constantly evolving global tax regulations and laws, and performing complex calculations accurately and rapidly at scale. We seek software engineers adept at tackling intricate problems and operating mission-critical systems under high load. Our systems handle hundreds of millions of records and process millions of service requests per minute. This role involves all aspects of the software development and deployment lifecycle, including design, development, documentation, testing, and operations. We are looking for individuals with strong communication skills, a self-driven attitude, and the ability to deliver high-quality results in a fast-paced environment. Collaboration with talented peers in a team of highly skilled engineers is essential. We welcome candidates with a strong foundation in Java and Linux, from recent graduates to experienced technical leaders. Responsibilities include designing and building innovative technologies on large-scale distributed systems, developing scalable and fault-tolerant distributed storage, index, and query systems, and coding solutions for broadly defined problems within an agile framework.
